VTP Prunning

In a large network VTP (VLAN Trunking Protocol)] can create a problem since if the switch is a VTP server, it will keep broadcasting the VTP configuration.

As a result, switches that does not belong to the same VLAN will also receive the configuration (of course they will discard it afterwards) but they will receive the packets still

Consider this situation, the switch which don't belong to VLAN 100 will also receive the packets.

VTP prunning will prevent the traffic to reach to VLAN that's not part of the desired VLAN

[!note]
VTP pruning is not designed to work with switches in VTP transparent mode

[!important]
VTP Prunning is only prunable for VLAN from 2 -> 1001. VLAN 1 and above 1001 cannot be prune
