CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol)

Proprietary protocol which contains

• Device identifier
• Address list
• Port identifier

Usage: Allows other cisco devices to discover information listed above from different devices. It also helps the engineer.

The open source version of this is LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol)
